Our Pastor

Welcome to St. Peter United Methodist Church.

Our church home is a place where everybody is somebody, and everyone is welcome regardless to background.

What breaks God’s heart should break our hearts.  The church doesn’t exist for itself; rather, the church exists to partner with God in Jesus’ mission to reconcile the world and bring heaven to earth.  Our passion for ministry and mission should be like God’s.  We welcome all people into our church. We are eager to assist each individual in identifying his/her individual gifts, so we can combine our collective gifts to witness for and glorify the Lord.

About Our Pastor

Senior Pastor: Rev. Danny Ray Jefferson

Reverend Danny R. Jefferson was appointed pastor in 2010.  He was born and raised in Madison County.  Reverend Jefferson graduated in 1973 from Sparkman High School.  He completed his 20-course study for the Methodist church in 2013.  He retired from Goodyear/Dunlop in 2003 with 29 years of service.

His background before preaching was teaching Sunday School and Wednesday night Bible Study at Springhill United Methodist Church, which is his home church.  His first pastoral church was at St. Paul UMC in Stevenson, Alabama in 2007.

Reverend Jefferson is known for his insightful and inspiring teaching and preaching.  He has a unique gift in bringing the Bible to Life and relating Biblical issues to everyday living, thus challenging people to be better Christians.

Reverend Jefferson’s ministry is best accurately described in Isaiah 61:1-2, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek, he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord”.

Reverend Jefferson is married to Chenetta Hill Jefferson.  They are the proud parents of two children, Rod Hill and Danielle Jefferson.  They have also been blessed with 4 grandchildren.
